KODAIKANAL, the Princess of Hills, the most beautiful and popular hill stations on Western Ghats in India, stands amidst sylvan beauty on the southern crest of upper Palani Hills at an altitude of about 7,200 feet from the sea level within Dindigul District of Tamil Nadu, Kodaikanal is the most sought after honeymoon destination in South India for its scenic beauty and it attribute to leave any nature lover mesmerized to its charming nature by touching wind and mist with eye catching views of hills, rocks, valleys, trees, falls, forests and paddies. Kodaikanal is completely secluded from the madding crowd which makes it one of the very few lovable hill stations in India where the visitors come back frequently all through the year to get enchanted and thrilled.

The word Kodaikanal means gift of forest which was established in the year 1820, the dense forest with many varieties of trees in the wilderness, the huge rocks, woods, lovely, serene star shaped lake spread over an area of 24 hectares and the enchanting water falls makes it a real gift for the tourists visiting this place. The Orchid is a hilltop cottage that offers excellent views and amenities. It had a great sit out area for the evening near the campfire pit. We found the maids and arrangements to be done very well. Kitchen was setup sufficiently to cook and serve dinner. Water heater worked for most of the time in the bathrooms for showers. Given that it is in a hilltop, it takes about 10 mins to get to from the main lake. I would recommend for large families and get-togethers.

The Orchid was awesome. it made our trip complete. The cottage can easily accomodate around 10 to 15 people. and it is spacious as shown in the pics. It woulld be great if the price is bit less. Hope to be there again .

The villa was nice with refreshing greenery around. It is quite far away from the town and roads become narrower as you approach the place, so it is recommended to have your own private vehicle suitable for hilly terrains. It has a small but well maintained garden with a small camp fire area (at extra cost, but it’s worth it). Bedrooms are decent with attached bathrooms. Towels are provided but not toiletries like soaps/shampoos. There aren’t shops nearby, but there is a caretaker boy staying nearby the villa who is helpful. Homely food is available at extra cost, but food options might be limited. We enjoyed our stay at the villa more than the overcrowded tourist places. Overall a wonderful experience.

First of all, The Orchid is a beautiful house and can easily fit a family of 10 (and more if you spread the mattresses available). The house is well maintained, and caretaker is always there to ensure any help! Perfect for Families that like to live and eat together.Sakhtivel, the owner was helpful and answered all our queries before booking. He also helped us during a medical emergency. The food provided is homely and tasty! If you are travelling in your own car, like we did – make sure your car can mount steep roads, as there are couple of steep. If you can’t, the locals there, or even the owner can help you out with this! Overall a great experience and will consider this the next time we are there.

The place is a bit in the interiors, so a little tough to reach, but we were so glad because it is the most peaceful place we have ever been to. The house is exactly as shown in the pictures, well maintained and very clean. There is a helper who will attend to almost every need. Every member of the family including kids absolutely loved the house, the lawn and fire place. A very satisfying stay in every aspect.

The house is so good and clean. The care taker is little upset as we haven’t inform things prior. Its a beautiful house and the hill view is pleasant. The food they have provided is not too delicious but sustainable enough. If you are visiting Kodaikanal i would recommend you this place.

The Orchid is a very beautiful place to stay in Kodaikanal, its calm and well maintained. We visited as a group of friends and every single member cherished their stay at in the house. They have a beautiful garden and a picturesque view from the house. The house can adequately accommodate 10 people and has all the necessary furniture and utilities available. The caretakers was very helpful at the time of arranging food from the town. We had a wonderful stay and I would strongly recommend Sakthivel’s house during your stay in Kodaikanal.

Great place , good for large groups, very spacious, surrounded by greenery . Kitchen needs improvement . They charged us 500 per day which I felt was a lil over priced .The kitchen was not clean . Please carry your own kitchen towel or tissues. They have Stinky unwashed kitchen napkins . Mohan was helpful . We had to order dinner from outside . The first night dinner was edible but the second night dinner was horrible . I suggest you head out and pick up food on your own or let Mohan know from where to pick up food or else you would pay a bomb for bad quality food . overall it was a great experience . Would re visit someday .Great value for money for 8 plus group.

Location of home stay and the home was very nice and beautiful with garden. Every member of my family really enjoyed it. View from the home was amazing. We cooked the food in kitchen on our own. Helpers at home stay are friendly and took care of our needs as and when we needed. This place is a place to remember always. We feel like to stay here again when we visit next time to Kodai.
